Tech & Innovation Intern

The Tech & Innovation Intern will play a key role in developing AI-driven solutions and creating workflow models that enhance internal operations and client-facing systems. This opportunity is ideal for undergraduate students in technology-related majors who want meaningful hands-on experience in real-world consulting environments.

 

Interns will receive direct mentorship, exposure to high-impact projects, and opportunities to contribute ideas that shape how AMA Consulting leverages data and technology to serve federal and public sector clients.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • AI & Automation:
    • Design, build, and test basic AI and machine learning models to support client or internal projects
    • Conduct research on AI trends, tools, and ethical use cases in government consulting
    • Help optimize model performance and track outcomes using internal datasets
  • Organizational Workflow Design:
    • Create visual workflow models for operational and program processes
    • Map out business processes and recommend improvements using tools like Lucidchart, Miro, or draw.io
    • Collaborate with project managers to translate real-world operations into structured, repeatable workflows
    • Assist with organizing and analyzing datasets to generate insights
    • Create visualizations using Power BI, Excel, or Python to support decision-making
    • Document findings and assist in preparing reports for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Join weekly team stand-ups and working sessions
    • Contribute to problem-solving discussions and brainstorming meetings
    • Receive personalized mentorship from senior consultants and technical experts

 

Required Qualifications to Be Successful in This Role:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Exposure to or interest in Python, R, or similar programming languages
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

 

Preferred Skills Include:

  • Familiarity with tools such as Jupyter, Scikit-learn, or TensorFlow
  • Interest in public service, civic tech, or process improvement
  • Experience with visual workflow or diagramming tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro)
  • Previous academic or personal projects involving automation, data science, or app development
